Tree and Shelf

Here we have a bookshelf (or a single book?) responding with good manners to a tree declaring it the Chosen One. (The bookshelf – or possibly the entire little exchange – might be labelled “biological reductionism”, though I’m not actually sure what those words apply to.)

Sadly I’m not sure what this sketch is about anymore. It was drawn in 2008, in an undergraduate anthropology/ women’s studies/ politics course called Gender, Sex and Science. The theme of the particular lecture was “Knowledge reflects how we are socialised”.
